Bread for Today. Hope for Tomorrow.
Lechem Foundation is a welfare organisation that provides warm meals to vulnerable children while empowering families and volunteers to improve their livelihoods, grow in the Christian faith, and strengthen their communities.
Who We Are
Lechem Foundation is on a mission to show God’s love by caring for people’s needs, equipping them with life skills, sharing the Gospel, and building sustainable solutions.
We believe that feeding a child today should go hand-in-hand with equipping communities for a stronger tomorrow.
Among other things, our work focuses on:
  • Food security
  • Skills development
  • Volunteer empowerment
The Need
Food insecurity continues to affect many Namibian children. A single weekly meal from a soup kitchen can be the difference between attending school or staying home hungry.
But hunger is only one layer of the struggle. Many families also face:
Unemployment
Limited Income
Lack of Skills Training
Unstable Support Networks

Children need food now, and communities need opportunities to grow sustainably. Lechem stands in both spaces — meeting immediate needs while supporting long-term resilience.
Our Response
Our purpose is to alleviate hunger and uplift livelihoods through whole-person, sustainable support.
Lechem's approach is simple, practical, and sustainable:

Feed today. Equip for tomorrow. Strengthen communities for years to come.
The Big Picture: Our Comprehensive Approach
Food Production
Growing fresh, nourishing food through sustainable agriculture and community gardens — creating opportunities for families and volunteers to learn, contribute, and share in the harvest.
Training
Equipping leaders, volunteers, and youth with practical skills, confidence, and personal growth opportunities so they can care for themselves and make a lasting impact in the lives of others.
Distribution
Gathering, preparing, and delivering food with integrity and the highest hygiene standards through our distribution centre — ensuring every meal reaches children safely and consistently.

Together, these three pillars create a sustainable model that meets immediate needs while building stronger, more resilient communities for the future.

A Story of Hope
Meet Thomas, age 12.*
He came to his local soup kitchen hungry and discouraged. His single mother joined the volunteer team soon afterwards, learning food-prep skills, budgeting basics, and gaining renewed confidence.
Today Thomas eats regularly, attends school happily, and his mother has started a small home-based food service — a seed planted through her time at Lechem.
This is what sustainable care looks like.
